Young People

This element of the research will look in detail at how angling is used to engage young people. The research will develop new knowledge about the benefits of angling intervention for young people, explore best practice, investigate the particular approach of national charity Get Hooked On Fishing and how it can maximise its impact, as well as developing learning from the diverse range of projects using angling with young people.

Case Study

Get Hooked On Fishing (GHOF), is a national charity with extensive experience of delivering angling based education and personal development programs for young people. Their projects successfully engage some of the hardest to reach young people, using angling to build confidence and self-esteem. GHOF is our principal case study and involves in depth focus on a number of GHOF rojects across sea, game and coarse angling, as well as more general research across the charity.
